Q - Do I have to be married to take the METD classes? A
- While the program has been specifically designed with married couples in mind, we do allow engaged couples to join the classes.
Q - What if my spouse and I are not able to attend all six weeks of the program? A - It is very
common that due to travel schedules, emergencies and other conflicts, couples will have to miss a class during the six week
session. It is beneficial for you, and everyone else in the class, if you make every effort to attend all six classes,
but missing one class is not a problem! IF there is another session going on elsewhere in the area
that is on the same week as your class, attending the other class to make up what you have missed is an option. However,
please be aware that it is not very common that a make-up group class is available. You may schedule a private lesson
(extra fee) to make up the missed material on a one-on-one basis. Refunds and class credits are not available for missed
classes. We want you to enjoy all of the benefits of the full program and hope you will be able to attend each week.
Q - What do we wear to class? A - You may wear anything you like!! Some couples dress
up for the evening and use it as a "date night", while others dress very casually and comfortably. There is
no dress code....but we DO have a VERY STRICT shoe policy. Your shoes must attach securely to your feet, meaning that
they must at least have an ankle strap if they are slip-on shoes. Flip-flops and strapless/backless shoes are not allowed.
It is best to try to avoid rubber-soled shoes if possible. Shoes with a smooth sole will make it easier for you to move!
Q - Are you able to offer this class at my church, company or other organization? A - Absolutely!
If you belong to, work for or are a member of a group that you feel might enjoy having The Art of Dance bring this program
to your location, please let us know and we will be happy to work out details and arrangements. Discounts are available
for large groups of 10 or more couples at your location.
Q - Do we need to have dance experience to take
the Marriage Enrichment Through Dance™ program? A - No! This is a beginner level class and we start
at the very beginning with basic movements and partnership skills. It is perfect for couples who have absolutely no,
or very little, dance experience. To enroll in the Level 2 METD class, we do require that you have taken the METD
class first.
Q - What type of dancing will we be learning? A - The Marriage Enrichment Through
Dance program includes an introduction to the Foxtrot, Waltz and Swing. The Level 2 METD class is a continuation of
these three dances and also includes an introduction to the Bolero. The Marriage Enrichment Through Dance™ GONE
COUNTRY class includes the Two-Step, Progressive Double Two-Step and the Country Waltz.
Q - What nights
are classes offered? A - Typically, the METD program is offered on Friday nights. However, occasionally
classes will be offered on other nights.
